Brief
History of Amazing Grace Baptist Church
In
the summer of 2004, Brother David began feeling a strong leading
from the Lord to initiate a new church ministry in the Clay,
Cleburne, and Randolph County area. By September, the
leading was becoming stronger. Over a period of four weeks,
the Lord had sent four different men from four different counties
to him separately, all having the same burden. That burden
was for a church where their families could worship God in Spirit
and in Truth. Bro. David chose not to share the same burden
that the Lord had put upon him just yet. This was a miraculous
move of God to prove His will for this new ministry. For
even more of the Lord’s unmistakable proof, all four of these
men had approached Bro. David at the same place and all four
were a week apart.
By
October, the leading of the Lord was so strong that a cottage
prayer meeting was planned for these families that had approached
Bro. David. As the next few weeks passed, more and more
people heard of these cottage prayer meetings and wanted to
take part. This group of people was growing rapidly.
It was obvious that God was building a church! On November
10th , the first official church service as Amazing
Grace Baptist Church was held. It was decided that Sunday
services would be held at the Phillips home, and Wednesday services
at the Taylor home. These locations would serve as the
meeting place for Amazing Grace for the next three months.
On
December 31, 2004, the church held a Charter Service at the
Phillips home. It was a “packed house”. Bro. David’s
Pastor, Bro. Ken Bowman, along with the deacons of Liberty Baptist
Church, Bowdon GA, were present to make this new congregation
of God’s people an official church. By February, these
two homes could not hold this rapid growing congregation.
As a result, a storefront building was rented at Hollis Crossroads
in Cleburne County, AL. This would be the new, temporary
location of Amazing Grace.
There
was a piece of property that Bro. David had been feeling led
to for quite sometime. This property was unmistakably
the appointed place where the Lord wanted His church to settle.
Bro. David felt the need to contact the owner of the property
to check on the possibility of the church acquiring this particular
property. After a phone call, it was obvious that the
owner did not have a desire to sell the property. Now
what? It is apparent that the Lord wants His church there.
After several weeks passed the owner called Bro. David back
and asked him to meet him at the property. He GAVE the
property to Amazing Grace Baptist Church!! God is a Big
God.
In
January 2005, our first revival meeting was held at the Chapel
of Cheaha State Park. We had a great week with many lives
touched, and one soul was saved! Bro. Dana Williams from
Boone, NC was the Evangelist for the week. Many monetary
gifts arrived almost weekly. The Lord was touching the
hearts of many people to fund the beginning of this new ministry.
On
the 8th of November, 2005, we broke ground for the
first building of Amazing Grace Baptist Church. After
a long building process, on August 20, 2006 the first service
was held on the new property, in the new building. Since
that time, the Lord has overwhelmingly blessed this ministry
in Spirit, Grace, and people. Please pray for this ministry
as the Lord adds to the church daily, such as should be saved.
Eph. 2:4
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith
he loved us,
5
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with
Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised
us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places
in Christ Jesus: 7 That in the ages to come he might
shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward
us through Christ Jesus.8 For by grace are ye
saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift
of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
